Dr. Nyein earned her B.Sc. (2014) and Ph.D. (2020) in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was advised by Professor Ali Javey. She subsequently completed her postdoctoral training under Professor Tom Soh at the Stanford University before joining HKUST. Her research aims to bridge advanced materials engineering and fluid manipulation with biomedical sensing to enable personalized health monitoring. As a leading author, she has published several pioneering studies on bioelectronics and wearable sensing technology in top-tier journals, including Nature, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, Science Advances, and ACS Sensors. She has been recognized as Innovator Under 35 Asia Pacific (TR35) by MIT Technology Review, APBEC Young Scholar Award, CBMS Young Innovator Award, and Micromachines Young Investigator Award.
